Backstrom TV Series

Great, just when I discover a new cop series to watch on Netflix, I find it's been cancelled at the end of season one. Any way I think Backstrom is worth a watch.....

About the show
Backstrom is a subversive and comic crime procedural about an unhealthy, offensive, irascible – albeit brilliant – detective who sees the worst in everyone, and he’s usually right.

Detective Lieutenant EVERETT BACKSTROM (Emmy Award nominee Rainn Wilson, “The Office”) is a man with no filter. After a five-year banishment to the traffic division for offensive behavior, he has returned from disgrace to lead Portland’s newly minted Special Crimes Unit (S.C.U.).Tasked with navigating the city’s most sensitive and serious cases, he must solve each crime as he tries, and fails, to change his own self-destructive behavior.

Whether outsmarting his foes, including his ex-fiancee (recurring guest star Sarah Chalke, “Scrubs”), or guiding his eccentric team of investigators and civilians, featuring Dennis Haysbert (“24,” “The Unit”), Genevieve Angelson (“House of Lies”), Kristoffer Polaha (“Ringer,” “Life Unexpected”), Page Kennedy (“Blue Mountain State,” “Weeds”), Beatrice Rosen (“The Dark Knight”) and Thomas Dekker (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”), Backstrom always manages to crack the case.

But his highly unorthodox process invariably leads to clashes with everyone around him, from his fellow law enforcement colleagues, to the Fire Department, to Portland’s local charities, to the city’s drag queens, to half of Chinatown and an entire Indian Reservation. When Backstrom’s investigating, nobody comes out unscathed.

I hope it makes a return one day.

Banshee US TV Series

For those of you watching Banshee series four, the final episode is fast approaching. I have really enjoyed every series and it's not too late for you to catch up.

Banshee premise
A man is released from prison after serving 15 years for planning to keep $15 million in diamonds that he was stealing on behalf of his employer, a Ukrainian mob boss named Rabbit. His former lover and accomplice, Rabbit’s daughter Anastasia, took off with the diamonds. Rabbit is after him because he thinks the man will lead him to his daughter and the diamonds. The man flees to the small fictional, Pennsylvanian town of Banshee, where Anastasia has been living under the alias of Carrie Hopewell, the wife of the DA with two children. Lucas Hood, the new sheriff, arrives in town and is immediately killed when he intervenes in a dispute between local criminals and a bar owner. The man takes Hood’s identity and has to impersonate the sheriff and deal with ex-Amish crime lord Kai Proctor, sort things out with "Carrie" and get his share of the diamonds while evading Rabbit.

Season 1 focuses on Hood's attempts to restore his relationship with Carrie under the looming threat of Rabbit finding them. Hood completely disregards the law while clashing with Proctor and pursuing his often criminal activities, alienating his deputies. Rabbit eventually tracks him down and Hood surrenders to spare Carrie. Carrie leads some criminal accomplices and the deputies in a raid to free Hood and shoots Rabbit.

Season 2 deals with tribal chief Alex Longshadow's attempt to build a casino on the reservation which places Sheriff Hood in the middle of a violent struggle between Longshadow and Proctor. Carrie must face up to her past when she is imprisoned for her part in the raid against her father. With Carrie trying to fix her marriage, Hood enters into a relationship with his deputy Siobhan. He must deal with the real Hood's son when he comes to Banshee looking for his father. Hood and Carrie are forced to track down and confront Rabbit and settle things once and for all when they learn he survived being shot.

Season 3 of this crime drama continues to chronicle the exploits of an ex-con who assumes the identity of a lawman named Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) in the small, out-of-the-way town of Banshee, in Pennsylvania. The season opens with Lucas hoping to land a risky new job, after the death of Rabbit (Ben Cross). Nola (Odette Annable) returns to Banshee and confronts Burton. The FBI show and threaten to expose Hood's secret. The station is attacked by Chayton (Geno Segers) and the Redbones, leading to an all out war.

Season 4 is the fourth and final season. Two Years after Job went missing, in Banshee, a string of similar murders where young girls hearts are ripped out of their chest and then left at the side of the road becomes a top priority concern when Rebecca Bowman (Lili Simmons) is the third victim in the grotesque killings. Lucas Hood comes out of hiding to investigate her death along with the help of FBI Agent Veronica Dawson (Eliza Dushku). Power in Banshee has changed, with Brock Lotus (Matt Servitto) assuming the title of Sheriff and Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thompsen) as the new Mayor of Banshee, who's been making deals with the Aryan Brotherhood, led by Calvin Bunker (Chris Coy).

Funny Police Arrest Images

I've been speaking to a few police themed museums trying to get them to stock the book, but it's proving difficult. I won't give up as the books need to be out there on the shelves. The ebook version still seems to be selling really well and thanks for everyone's support. I'm still editing the second book in between my day job and hopefully this will be finished for an online release before Christmas. I will keep you updated on progress.

For now here's a couple of funny police arrest images to enjoy.
